In Pisa, the donations keep on coming with the following quote (in Italian): “Siamo onde dello stesso mare, foglie dello stesso albero, fiori dello stesso giardino – We are waves of the same sea, leaves of the same tree, flowers of the same garden.” Sant’Anna School former Chinese students have donated 2,000 surgical face masks, 5,000 KN95 and FFP3 respirator masks in addition to swab testing kits to the Monasterio Foundation health care workers. The shipment arrived in Pisa on Monday, March 30, and more are scheduled to arrive within the next few days.

It is an important contribution in tempering the effects of the Covid-19 health emergency and supporting Sant’Anna School community with personal protective equipment. The donation is the tangible demonstration that Chinese former students feel like an integral part of our institution.  It is sense of belonging and solidarity as protective respirators can keep doctors and nurses from getting infected while treating patients with Covid-19 in Italy.

The donations came from ex-students Hao Li, who is currently a professor at the School of Health Sciences/Global Health Institute of Wuhan University, and Qian Tao, who currently teaches law at the China University of Politics Science and Law. In 2012, Hao Li received his PhD in “Health Management” and Qian Tao received her PhD in “Intellectual Property Law, International Business Law”. Along with other Chinese former students who obtainer their doctoral degree at Sant’Anna School, they expressed their gratitude and friendship to rector Sabina Nuti and to the academic community who had welcomed them so warmly.

As well as the face masks and swab test kit donated by Chinese students, Hao Li and Qian Tao, a campaign launched by  former students of the Institute of Management  Executive DBA program and the School of Economics and Management at Chongqing University  raised 8,000 euros  that have been used to buy  5,000 KN95 protective masks delivered on March 31, 2020.
